Networking for Communications Challenged Communities: Architecture, Test Beds and Innovative Alliances
Starting in May 2008, N4C is a 36 month research project in the Seventh Framework Programme (www.cordis.lu/fp7). In cooperation between users in Swedish Lapland and Kocevje region in Slovenian mountain and partners in eight countries, the project will design and experiment with an architecture, infrastructure and applications in field trials and build two test beds.
N4C aims at develop and test a broadband network with use of Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) and evolve a test bed for applications in challenged areas in:
- Swedish Lapland
- Kocevje region in Slovenian mountain
Carry out application tests on:
- Animal tracking (reindeers)
- Hikers PDA
- Meteorological data
